Wanna tell you a story about a woman
Wanna tell you a story ‘bout a woman I know (hello Bon, Sir) who decided to trade in her 8 to 5 routine to embark on a journey of self-discovery and artistic fulfillment. Hi ! My name is Moriah, not Rosie (IYKYK) and I found the courage to pursue my passion for art after years of feeling stuck in a job that didn’t align with my creative spirit.
Finding My Creative Flow
I was confined to a corporate job that drained my energy... my days were filled with meetings, emails, and a predictable routine that left me bummed. Each day, I wanted to throw everything away, but I was hesitant to step away from the comfort of a stable paycheck.
And then, one day, I decided to join an online art school. That was it. Out with the paycheck security ! With each lesson, I connected with emotions I thought I had lost forever. The simple fact to draw, learn new skills, let my imagination run wild was overwhelmingly good ! The simple act of creating brought me to life. It was clear that I was about to change everything in my life.
A Leap of Faith
The decision to leave my corporate job was scary at first, and it took me a few years to have the strength to pursue art full-time. But fear not ! I said. And I feared not...
I set up a digital art studio—not with traditional canvases and paints, but a computer and a pen tablet. It was hard, I was full of doubts, but each time I was tempted to go back to my old life I remembered how I used to feel and it strengthened my will. I am still full of doubts but the excitement is now stronger than doubts !
Transformative Journey of Art
Despite facing fears, setbacks, errors, wandering, my journey into the art world has transformed me. No longer trapped in monotony, I wake up every morning excited about the blank canvas before me (and also worried about the cost of life and how I am going to make it to the end of the month). The hurdles I face only fuel my determination to grow and thrive as an artist. I learn each day from my mistakes (and numerous they still are 😂).
This is my story so far, and I hope it can serve as a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your passion, regardless of age (I’m 55) or circumstances. By embracing my creativity and stepping into the unknown, I discovered a side of myself that had long been dormant. There is nothing more fulfilling than living an authentic life, and if you find yourself yearning for something more, you know what to do.
